Acoustic box installation tips.

Optimal Location
The placement of your enclosure is contingent upon the location of your filtration equipment. This positioning is typically discussed during the planning phase. For new constructions, soundproof enclosures around filtration equipment are often required as part of the approval process.

Proper Ventilation
Pool equipment generates heat, so it is crucial that the area includes adequate ventilation openings to prevent overheating. Adhere to the manufacturer’s guidelines for ventilation requirements to ensure optimal performance.

Accessibility
Design your area to facilitate easy access to pool equipment for routine maintenance and repairs. Most models feature a lift-open top with struts and a removable front panel to provide clear access.

Position for Optimal Performance
Install at a suitable distance from the equipment. Proximity too close can impede airflow, while excessive distance may compromise noise reduction efficacy. When routing plumbing to the filter location, position pipes upright within the area to avoid the need for drilling holes or cutting gaps in the acoustic box.

Maintenance of the Box
Regularly inspect the acoustic box for signs of wear or damage. Ensure that insulation material remains intact and replace it as needed. Periodically check for the presence of spiders and other insects, as the warm environment can attract unwanted pests.

Consult Manufacturer Guidelines
Always follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions for specific recommendations and requirements related to your acoustic box model. Engage a licensed installer for installation. Employ a licensed electrician for all electrical work associated with the installation.

General Considerations
Note that pool heaters should not be covered with an acoustic box. Backless acoustic boxes are suitable for power points, chlorinators, and light transformers already mounted on the wall. Standard boxes come with timber mounts for securing these components.

1. Certification:

  • Many new pool installations require certification for the soundproof enclosure of pool equipment. It is advantageous to be aware of these certification standards during the planning phase to ensure compliance.

2. Placement:

  • Placement of plumbing can present challenges, as experienced in previous projects with both clients and Stylish Pools and Spas. For retrofitted pools, adjustments to the pool plumbing may be necessary to fit the soundproof enclosure. For new pool installations, plumbing should be designed with the inclusion of the soundproof enclosure in mind, assuming its incorporation is anticipated.

3. Sizing:

  • The dimensions of the soundproof enclosure will vary depending on the specific pool setup. For a standard pool configuration, including a sand filter, pump, and chlorinator, the typical size is approximately 1350mm (W) x 1050mm (D) x 1145mm (H).

4. Colours:

  • A range of colours is available to complement the aesthetic of your home. A colour chart will be provided prior to delivery and installation for your selection. Additional colour options and information can also be explored on the acoustic box website.
